Senior Year
Introduction
Hi my name is Jayson Ponce and I am a senior at Academy for Math, Engineering & Science. The reason I'm making this portfolio is so that colleges can see what I've done during my time at AMES. What I want to do for a career in the future is to be a anesthesiologist. I am aware of how many years of schooling it will take till I reach that goal and I am committed to go the extra mile.

Biography
I've always found science and health interesting. Ever since I was 9 I've loved to go outside and experiment with plants, bugs, and rocks. It wasn't till I was 13 when I was getting interested in health and medical stuff. In seventh and eighth grade I was in MESA club at Bonneville jr.high. Things were going pretty good till I started to dislike the people at the school because bad influence and drama. My parents wanted me to go to a charter school which is AMES. I didnt hesitate and went along with their decision and switched schools.
Switching to AMES for ninth grade was a big change for me. It was like going to 0 to 100 in a second but this was the kind of change that I really liked because not only did I go into high school a year early but I also got to see what and how my older brother got through high school, at the time he was a Senior in cottonwood high school and AMES shares the same building as cottonwood.
At AMES I attended a class called internship and in that class I learned how to write up a resume, how to answer questions in a interview, and what to do to ensure the interviewer wants me to be working for them. The summer after school ended I became an intern for a General Dentist, Orthodontist, Oral Surgeon/ Anesthesiologist, and a Periodontist. It was my favorite time working for free and learning all about the world of dentistry.
I enjoy working with people and animals, I often take care/ babysit toddlers or pets. I've volunteered at an animal shelter and helped by playing with the dogs and feeding them treats. I love to be outside in nature to go on hikes, bike rides, and rock climbing.
My work experience: Ive taken care of toddlers with my mom. I help around the seniors living alone in my neighborhood or anyone who seem to be working on painting their house or rebuilding. I've worked in customer service at Mcdonalds for about a year and 2 months. Ive worked sixty-two hours in an internship with a General Dentist.

Quote
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” -Albert Einstein
Reflection: I feel that they judge us on how they put us to the test on things we should know than what we actually know. I have a strong feeling from this quote because everyone is a genius but the way they test us on things we aren't masters at they judge us with numbers (GPA, test&quiz scores).

AMES Memory
The ames memory that i will never forget is the time when all the seniors had a field trip to go to the UofU, The group I went with planned to go on the UTA bus, as we where approaching the bus stop the bus had left and all of us waited for the next bus to come and it started to snow really bad. It when from snow gently falling down to a wicked blizzard and so we waited outside for 25 minutes then we decided to go wait by the AMES doors but could not go in because that day the juniors were taking the ACT and were not allowed to be in the building but the new dean of student of ames, Hema Kotoa opened the doors for us anyways so we wouldn't freeze outside and warm up. We where all soaking wet and cold from being outside so long and finally the bus came and we ran for it. I chose this as my AMES memory because not only Kotoa but all the teachers here at AMES are kind and awesome.
