Representation of internship
What I did for my internship was being an assistant for a general dentist who also "shared" me around with his other colleagues in dentistry. Not only did i work with a general dentist but also a orthodontist, oral surgeon/anesthesiologist, and periodontist. I enjoyed working for them all and learning about those careers. I've been given sometimes some assignments to read about the mouth, teeth, nerves, and tools. Dr. Roberson, my mentor, taught me all about the nerves within the mouth and also the tools they use. Dr. Christensen, taught me all about anesthesiology and about oral surgery, I helped with some of the wisdom teeth surgery by holding the patients head in place so the patient could breathe properly and not move their head around as the doctor worked in their mouth while the patient is sedated. Dr. Mortensen taught me about how braces work and how they are properly placed, he also let me remove brackets off a patients teeth and place brackets and the wire with the bands to tighten the teeth. Finally, Dr. McKeown only taught me about periodontics and shown me skin grafts and teeth replacements.
